A Holter test is a type of ambulatory electrocardiogram (ECG) that monitors your heart’s electrical activity continuously for 24 to 72 hours

This is recommended when a standard ECG doesn't provide enough information to explain symptoms. It is essential for:

• Detecting arrhythmias (like atrial fibrillation) that come and go unpredictably.

•  Investigating the cause of unexplained palpitations, dizziness

• Checking how well heart medications are working or if a pacemaker is functioning correctly.

• Evaluating heart health after a heart attack

The process is non-invasive and painless. A technician attaches small, sticky sensors (electrodes) to your chest.

The electrodes are linked by wires to a small recording monitor, which you can carry in a pocket or wear on a strap. You wear the device throughout the day and night. You will be asked to keep a diary of your activities and any symptoms you feel (like shortness of breath or chest pain).​
